This coming Wednesday is another chance to complete one more on the list for the Konica Challenge as we are off to Okiwi Bay. This looks like a very tight and twisty route which will be interesting for us cruiser riders, just me in recent weeks. There are plans for some to return via French Pass which is a gravel route so a little more of interest for some but not for cruisers. Meeting at 11 am at Pomeroys Coffee Factory as usual.

What a great days riding, six of us met for coffee at Pomeroys and on leaving I had to get going quickly as having just topped the tank up as I got on the bike the strong smell of petrol rose up and as the bike had been sitting in the sun the fuel expanded and a steady flow came out the cap. A lesson learned!! We rode the Whangamoas and turned left for French Pass, a first for me, the ride into Okiwi Bay starts with good cruiser roads but soon starts to climb and the turns get tighter and continue as it drop's down into Okiwi Bay. The views are beautiful and Okiwi Bay is stunning, with some riders making their own way there we totaled ten, even with one continuing to Pelorus Cafe due to other commitments. Claire and Rob met us there bringing two guests with them and the cameras were snapping away for the Konica Challenge. Being here most of rode for Elaine Bay with two taking the unsealed to French Pass, I felt that Elaine Bay was slightly over shadowed by Okiwi Bay but still very beautiful. The ride back was as good as the ride there and with temperatures hitting 25c it could not have got any better.
