A Wednesday ride this week and as we are into October I though that we could kick off the Konica Minolta Challenge and head up to Lake Rotoiti with lunch at Kohatu (Tophouse is closed for lunch on Wednesdays). After lunch we could ride down to Tapawera through Dovedale and Neudorf and home via Upper Moutere. I maybe a little late to Pomeroy’s but I shall be there. Remember to bring your camera and bandana, that’s if you have registered?

Eight stalwarts met at Pomeroys, with 6 heading off for a run up to the Lakes, back via Kohatu and Dovedale. After a fun run up to Lake Rotoiti the CanTeen bandanas came out and the cameras started clicking. Bit nippy up there so we beat a hasty retreat to the cafe/bar at Kohatu where we warmed up with plenty of hot food. We met a couple of Italian Journos on a XC800 who were doing a tour of NZ for one of the Italian motorcycle mags. They were riding a bike supplied by the press complete with helmet video equipment and some pretty impressive paniers. They took a couple of photos and a video of us saying 'buono ....?' I think it meant good riding, but maybe it was something completely different. We told them all about the club, and the BOF brigade which according to Google translator translates as 'noiose vecchie scoregge' Looks pretty impressive doesn't it !! Perhaps we should call ourselves the NVSs instead! Needless to say they looked pretty impressed with the size of the local branch of Ulysses. After an extended stay here a couple of consciences took over and most of us headed directly for home knowing that the Moutere Inn would be another excuse to stop. Great weather, great company.
